We want JP to be able to visit East Lansing and see the beautiful Michigan State Campus!
Hello fellow MAET overseas alumni and students. In addition to Candace’s prior post, I thought it might be a nice idea to give JP a going away present coordinated by students and alumni. We all have many memories of JP and all the work he has done to make us feel comfortable and to enhance our experiences in Galway and other prior MAET locations. So, I thought it would be cool idea if we all come together and tried to raise money for him and his wife to visit Michigan State’s beautiful campus. My hope is to raise enough money to provide him and his wife with plane tickets and hotel accommodations (I was thinking 1 week). Since JP and his wife are both educators, I am uncertain of the actual dates they will be able to visit East Lansing and have tried to determine a ballpark range for travel/accommodations at different times throughout the year. I will end the gofundme campaign if the contributions collected clearly exceed the amount needed for travel/accommodations. If we raise enough money, we can donate the remaining funds to a charity of JP’s choosing. If we do not raise enough money to fly and host JP and his wife, the amount donated will be used for a donation in JP’s name to an educational charity of JP’s choosing.
It would be great to give JP his gift while in he’s still in Ireland. If donations could be made before July 19. That would be awesome. Also when the date of JP’s trip is decided well will post the dates incase anyone else would like to visit as well.
Thank you everyone for your contributions!

For a ballpark figure I looked up the prices at the Kellogg (the hotel on campus) and rooms are $148 plus around $13 for taxes. That would be $1127 for 7 days. Flights from Paris to Detriot through Delta had a range of prices as you know. I picked random departure times for main economy and the price was around $2700 (for 2) using the dates (chosen randomly May 24-May 31).
