Hello! My name is Skyler Bealmear, daughter of Pat & Joy Bealmear. A lot of people know how my parents got connected, through their nurses while they were both experiencing the same life changing event; a heart transplant. For most people a second marriage is rare as it is, but to be on their second marriage and a heart transplant together they knew it was end game for them. They will be celebrating 20 years of marriage this May. Throughout the last 21 years Joy has experienced a lot of trials and tribulations with her new heart. Joy has been experiencing a lot of health issues the last few years and its effecting her whole body and even some other organs. Joy was listed for a second heart transplant in 2022 and actually got the call for it March of 2023. When we arrived to the hospital they ran tests per usual and a few levels were not where they needed to be and concerns for a liver transplant were now on the table. Throughout 2023 until now she has not been active on the transplant list but the time has come again and she now is back on the transplant list for a double organ transplant, a heart and a kidney. She has over 300 days on the list therefor the doctors believe she will be receiving the call to make the 2 hour drive to Tampa to undergo a 10-12 hour double transplant surgery very soon. With the surgery comes a 2 (ish) week stay in the hospital afterwards and since we live 2 hours away from the hospital she will have to stay in Tampa for a month afterwards for all of the follow up appointments. With all that said, I am creating this go fund me to help with the costs of a hotel stay for the nights that my dad and I are unable to stay in the hospital with Joy and then for the month long stay afterwards. This go fund me will also be able to help with the costs of food during the stay and for any travel costs after the surgery from Orlando to Tampa. Undergoing any surgery is stressful no matter what, but undergoing a double transplant where you are displaced from your home and family for over a month is very overwhelming so any donations to help the costs of all of the added expenses is very much appreciated.
