Joy's Cancer Battle
Donation protected
Thank you to all who have donated and supported us in any capacity. Joy passed peacefully on July 10th surrounded by friends and family.
All donations will continue to go towards her husband Max, and their two children to support them during this time with planning an end of life celebration, and beginning their lives as a single income family.
I'd love to introduce you to Joy Williamson,
AKA: Aunty Joy to myself and all of her other neices and nephews.
AKA: Wonder Woman or Jungle Joy to most who know her well.
AKA: Mom by her two young children, Theo (7) and Willow (3).
In 2021 Joy went through over a year of surgeries, chemo therapy and radiation following a diagnosis of a rare and aggresive form of breast cancer that had been misdiagnosed for some time. Defying the odds she conquered that battle, because that's just what Joy does...fights.
Joy truly lives up to her name as she has a remarkable spark that leaves a little light in everybody, spreading laughter and happiness. If you know her, you know the vibrancy of her smile, her stories, and her unconditional generousity. She loves her time with her children, her husband, her many supportive friends and family, and (prior to her first cancer diagnosis) volunteering with the local search and rescue. She has a fiery passion for the outdoors, loves sharing tales of jungle and wilderness adventures, disco music and dancing. Add all that to being a hard working mom and you begin to see where the "Wonder Woman" name came from.
Joy was lucky to have some time post-cancer of relatively good health, with life returing to somewhat normal. However, her health began declining again late last year and, after more misdiagnosis, she was again diagnosed with an aggressive and advanced cancer in late May of 2023.
Since that time Joy has been under round the clock care at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC, undergoing treatment for multiple tumours in her brain, as well as a large mass in her abdoment, all of which are affecting her mobility and causing discomfort and pain. In true Joy fashion she has doned her red and gold armour once again and won't go down without a fight. She has improved recently in spite of a grim prognosis, and is constantly asking the doctors what she can do herself to better fight this.
Joy and family are needing the support of their friends and family once again to ease the financial toll of round 2 of Joy's fight for her life. Your generous donation will go directly to Joy and her immediate family with the intent of helping with home renovations to accomodate a wheelchair, childcare and support for their two children, medical assistance and equipment, cleaning services, and just to help out with daily expenses now that Joy cannot work. Any support for Joy during this difficult time is very much appreciated.
