Joy was the perfect name for Joe and Donna Pichardo to choose for their first daughter. Joy is a wonderful daughter, sister, friend, teacher and person. She is funny, loyal, honest and faithful to her deep abiding Catholic faith.
A Jacksonville native, Joy attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, Bishop Kenny High School and is the Campus Minister at Bishop John J. Snyder High School.
What a blessing that Joy found her vocation in teaching and in youth campus ministry. She has touched the lives of thousands of people and has made an immeasurable impact on the teenagers to whom she has ministered since her graduation from College of the Holy Cross in 1996.
During the fall of 2003, Joy was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Since then she has won the battle against liver and ovarian cancers and fought them with dignity, courage and grace.
This spring, cancer returned and the fight resumes. Chemo, medicine and doctor's appointments are expensive. Joy is a teacher - you do the math. She needs our help.
