JoyLynn Guzman (Staak) born 11/11/1977. Born with a congenital heart defect known as "Transposition of the Greater Arteries" (TGA). Had open heart surgery at 18 months old to make the heart pump sufficiently.

She has been doing pretty well, until recently. The heart has weakened and after numerous test and labs she was informed a heart transplant is eventually needed.

Added to the complexities of a transplant is the situation with the TGA. The arteries will also need to be repositioned. So far two well known facilities have chosen not to take her case. We have been informed Chicago will consider, even with the risks involved.

Getting a heart transplant is a looonnngg journey. A huge step is to get her to Chicago for evaluation. She is expected to stay for @ one week for consultation and tests. Scheduled Sept. 29, 2023
