Let me begin by saying thank you to everyone for visiting this page! I made this to help raise money for my mother, who has been through a lot the past few months and with a series of unfortunate events, will be out of work for a while with out any form of income. In order for you all to understand is have to start from the beginning...
When she was 15 she was diagnosed FAP. (Familial ademontous polyposis) Where many polyps form in the colon leading to cancer. She had to undergo a subtotal cololectomy and remove 90% of her colon. She had to go every 6 months to a year for scopes to continually remove polyps in her remaining colon. At the age of 24, it switched to every 3-4 months due to the amount they were finding. When she 37, it had gotten out of control and then she got them in her duodenum. They hen had to remove the remainder of her colon and part of her duodenum. She then had to get a colostomy bag until her body healed which then lead to a j pouch 4 months after. She was down to 82lbs and was very weak. But mothers heart was strong and wanted to be there for her children, so she picked her self back up and was on the road to recovery. But now, 12 years later, leads us to this....
My mom is now 49. She has been going every 4-6 months to keep this disease at bay. On January 7th she went for her scope to find out that it had come back with a vengeance and had to undergo another surgery called a "whipple". A whipple is where they remove all duodenum (lower part of stomach connected to small intestine) and 50% of the pancreas. She will be in the hospital for up to a few weeks, but it will be a long road to recovery. She will be out of work with out any form of income. She is a very caring woman. She's actually a caregiver and is willing to put everyone before herself. Unfortunately her work does not offer disability or payed medical leave. It would be greatly appreciated for any donation to help her through this difficult time. No donation is too little. We have also decided if we reach over our goal, that money would be donated to another charity.
