Hi, my name is Sherry Testerman, and when my sister, Chaleen, as a never-married single mom, adopted her 3rd child even though she had a medical condition, it was on purpose. She knew that orphans with medical conditions aren't at the top of the list for most adoptive families. God had made it crystal clear that Feng Sheng Xia was Chaleen's daughter, after Cha prayed, expressing to God that she wished He would just "write it in the sky". She looked up, and in the clouds was written out "Xia", the part of her name Chaleen kept as a reminder of God's calling. She knew God had called her, so she began fundraising what seemed to be an impossible $30,000. After raising about $1,000, she was filing her taxes and read in the tiniest print that there was an adoption credit (that year only) for anyone who had adopted in 2011 (the year she adopted her first 2). The credit was for $14,500 for EACH kid! Joy Xia would be joining her family of 3 very soon. The adoption was final in April 2015, and my brave, single sister (who is an amazing elementary school teacher by the way) became a mom of 3. Cha knew Joy Xia would need surgery, and got her the medical care she needed from the top surgeon in America for her condition. However, because of Joy Xia's lack of nutrition in the orphanage and her missing large intestine, she does not have the best nutritional advantage for healing. There have been complications after complications. 7 years later, she has had 10 surgeries, 4 of which have been this year alone. Chaleen has never asked for a dime, but she has graciously allowed me to create this go fund me account on her behalf. She has already used her sick days and vacation time, but thankfully the kindergarten teachers at her Elementary School pooled together and gave her some of their personal days. Although we thought Joy Xia would be able to come home last Friday, there have been more complications, and she will need to stay another 2 weeks at least, with more surgeries needed. Today is day 107 just this year since her first procedure in May. Cha is so strong but so weary. All 3 of her kids are suffering as they are all apart. 6 of those days were at CHOA in Atlanta and her portion of that bill was $5000. I can't imagine what the other 101 days will cost. If you have ANY POSSIBLE WAY to help, WOULD YOU PLEASE CONSIDER GIVING ANYTHING AT ALL.....even if it is just $5?
