We are thrilled to introduce "Joy Ride", a heartfelt collaboration between The Bicycle Station and Open Door Youth Services in New Albany, Indiana. The goal is simple yet profound – to donate TEN Specialized Rockhopper bicycles to Open Door Youth Services, making a positive impact on the lives of children and youth in our community. Open Door Youth Services, originally established as the Floyd County Youth Services Bureau in 1982, has been a vital support system for troubled youth in Southern Indiana. Now, as Open Door Youth Services, the organization continues to expand its programs, reaching up to 4,000 children annually.
Our mission at The Bicycle Station is not just about providing bikes; it's about empowering these young individuals with a sense of freedom, joy, and a healthy outlet for recreation. We believe that biking goes beyond pedaling – it builds confidence, fosters independence, and encourages a healthy, active lifestyle. To kick off this initiative, we are planning a special event in April where The Bicycle Station employees will visit Open Door Youth Services. During this event, we will donate the bikes, teach the kids how to ride bikes and provide guidance on bike maintenance. This hands-on experience aims to create lasting memories and instill valuable skills.
We are grateful for the support from our generous partners. Helmets will be provided by Shimano, ensuring the safety of each child. Silca will be donating bike pumps and water bottles, contributing to a complete biking experience. Additionally, Upland Brewery has generously offered to provide dinner for the kids, making this event a memorable and impactful occasion.
We invite you to join us in making a difference. Your donations will directly contribute to purchasing bikes for Open Door Youth Services, allowing us to achieve our goal and positively impact the lives of these deserving children. Together, let's ensure that more kids can experience the joy of riding a bike in 2024 and beyond. Thank you for your support – let's make an impact!
