ABOUT ICC/JOHNSON-RIVERA HOUSE
The Inter-Cooperative Council is a 503(c) nonprofit housing cooperative. We are based in Ann Arbor, MI and most of our members are students at local colleges and universities. The ICC has been providing affordable, equitable and community-oriented housing for over 80 years.
Johnson-Rivera House is 1 of 16 houses available for members of the ICC to live in, and is themed in honor of QTBIPOC (queer, trans, black, indigenous people of color) folk. The house is meant to serve as a safe, inviting space for queer co-opers of color, especially acknowledging the ways in which the ICC and the cooperative movement at large has failed to make space and honor them historically. The house is based on the Gens Collective article from 2017 that emphasizes the importance of spaces exclusively for the QT & BIPOC community.
