Joy’s medical bill

Hi my name is Valery Kirksey, I adopted a baby girl named Joy at two months old; her mother died shortly after birth and she had no one to care for her. After her birth, a man from her village strapped her to the back of his bicycle and rode 6 hours to Jinja, Uganda which was the nearest city from her village to find someone to help provide for her needs. She was able to stay with a family that had six other children but unfortunately they were only able to provide her with sugar water to sustain her for two months. At two months old, Joy only weighed 4lbs and was dying. I am a retired 69-year old woman serving as a missionary in Uganda. When I met Joy I couldn’t turn my back on her; I tried to take care of her by providing her with food and love but I couldn’t see leaving her and returning to the United States. 

In December 2021, Joy was diagnosed with cancer. She was given radiation treatments for six weeks, seven days per week. At the end of the six weeks she was declared cancer free. Since then she had four surgeries and treatments for bone deformation. Four weeks ago I was told that the cancer was back. Shes been in the hospital for the past four weeks and will be there until August 10th. Prior to to the surgeries and cancer treatments she was constantly in and out of the hospital for other medical situations .

Joy has become a real joy to me. I love her with all my hearts, and it breaks my heart that I cannot provide for my daughter’s needs. I pray and hope that with your help that my Joy will have the opportunity to grow to be a healthy young lady and a blessing to others.
