Joy first noticed her health was declining and sought out medical care in December, 2019. After a few tests, the doctors suspected cancer and ordered more extensive testing. Because her husband of 17 years, who had recently left the marriage, dropped her from their medical insurance, without her knowledge, she was on hold for testing.
Shortly after acquiring her own medical insurance, the Covid pandemic hit. She hadn't been diagnosed with cancer yet, and so she was basically put on "the back burner", and after spending several months in isolation away from family and friends, and being forced to take a leave of absence from her longtime job. The stress and anxiety she endured, took a toll. Her health had deteriorated to a point that it became difficult to even breathe.
By the time hospitals and lab facilities started accepting patients again, she was so weak, that a simple biopsy led to a collapsed lung, and left her in the ICU for 9 days. The result of the biopsy was a diagnosis of stage 3 cancer.
Joy needs to undergo chemotherapy and radiation in a fight for her life. Without a source of income, her mother and I (her big sister), are asking for your help.
Over the last several months, Joy has been an inspiration, never asking for help, maintaining a positive outlook, and always putting others before herself.
For once in Joy's life, her mother and I, simply ask for love and prayers for Joy. If you feel in your heart, you can help provide the means to give Joy a fighting chance to survive, we would be honored to accept your donation.
