Jovanny Arroyo Memorial

Donation protected

Jovanny Arroyo was the 14 yr old young man pictured to the left, who lost his life on Sunday. He is the son of Adolfo Arroyo, a Construction Manager for my company, Blue Water Pools, for the past 15 yrs.
Jovanny was with his Father, his brother José and other family members swimming in the waves of Lake Michigan at the Grand Haven State Park on Sunday July 19th. Suddenly, a Rip Current pulled Jovanny down under the water around 3:30pm.
The family and many other swimmers formed a human chain in the water and searched for him while rescue workers were on their way.
The Grand Haven and Ottawa County Rescue workers and divers searched for Jovanny until Sunset Sunday and could not find him. They returned searching and diving all day on Monday and again today. Shortly before noon today, divers finally recovered Jovanny’s body, while a beautiful halo formed around the sun for over an hour. Photo I took after the recovery above.
Jovanny lived in Grand Rapids with his Father and brother José, who is 17. He is to the right of Jovanny in the cover photo. I also want to note that Adolfo’s significant other, Erika, spent much time with the family and caring for Jovanny, as herand Adolfo recently had a son (Angel) together in March of this year.
Jovanny recently celebrated his 14th birthday  on June 22, 2020. The photo is from his birthday. He was going to be a Freshman at Union High School this year. Jovanny was a fun, loving, energetic, thoughtful and kind young man who enjoyed spending time with his brothers and his friends. His brother said to me today, there aren’t enough words to describe how amazing Jovanny was. He will be deeply missed by his family, especially, his Father Adolfo who has cared for him for most of his life.
I have set up this go fund me page for Adolfo to help cover Jovanny’s funeral and Memorial services. Adolfo is and has always been a dedicated hard worker for me, however, I am hopeful with this fund he can spend some much needed good quality time with his remaining two sons and Erika, while they grieve the loss of Jovanny.
I also want to thank all the people who came out to the beach to bring food and show your support. There are so many of you who gave so much of your time. Special thanks to Tom and Jennifer Williams for all that you did to comfort the family during the search. And more thanks to Christine Clover, Michelle Karsten and friends for bringing so many others in from the GH community to help with meals and support to the family, search teams and divers. It was so amazing to see such a great community come together and be so supportive. I can’t thank you all enough.
In closing, I know that many of you don’t know Adolfo, but he is a very good man who worships and loves his kids deeply. He is one of the best men I have ever known. He is very kind, honest and loyal and would do anything for you, if asked. He has helped me for over 15 years and I want to help him right now. Believe me when I tell you that he and his family are really hurting beyond words and do need this support, so I ask you to please do what you can to help Adolfo and his family.
Thank you and God Bless
Michael
