Now that “Conversion Therapy” is openly supported by our current White House administration, I know it is time for me to speak up and tell the truth. "Conversion Therapy" is a treatment plan used by the psychiatric industry to change an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity. It is often backed by and supported by churches as well. Most minors are subjected to this treatment against their will. Currently only five states have banned “Conversion Therapy" for minors.

I spent my teenage years undergoing this horrific and torturous treatment in a private psychiatric institution that was supported by my parents’ church. I can share that "Conversion Therapy" is designed to destroy any sense of self within the individual. 

At one point I did escape. Upon the realization of my inevitable return, I decided to take my life, which led to the beginning of my spiritual awakening.  During what must have been the attempt to resuscitate my body, I was drawn into an enormous white light in which I received a download and was told that my life was not mine to take. This enormous Presence of Love conveyed to me that I was on purpose and had much to do still. The Presence was warm and loving, a feeling I had not experienced before. It was a moment I will always remember.

I write as someone who witnessed peers being hauled away to endure inhumane treatment and sometimes not return. I write as someone who regularly heard horrific cries and screams.  I write as someone who witnessed healthy teens and preadolescents deteriorate into shells with that could no longer speak nor control their own mental and physical faculties. I write as someone who saw torture and experienced torture in the name of morality and God…right and wrong…. sickness and sin. I write  as someone who will no longer be silent about the atrocities happening to minors all over our country.

For myself, for those who did not make it through, for those who survived and still feel silenced, for young people and the unborn, I commit myself to writing my book and investing the remainder of my life in doing my part to expose the truth of this political/psychiatric/religious ideology and to open hearts and minds to the Power of Love and the Possibility of Forgiveness.
