Journey to the American Open

Becoming the strong girl, is a mold that I have tried to escape several times in my life. As much as everyone wants to say that you need to be true to who you are, woman are treated differently for being 'thicka than a snicka' and for doing sports that are male dominated. People question your femininity, sexuality, and welcome-ability.

Strength training in any capacity is a lonely world. There aren't many other females to train with and although I love training with my boys, there are many things, that for their sake, I choose not to attempt to discuss with them.

Highschool and college athletics prepares you for your sport but continuing my strength training was not a thought I entertained until I was graduated, 5 years into marriage and 50# overweight. A good friend and coworker of mine asked why I continued to press for the "yoga body" when I so clearly had a muscular density that had taken years to build.

I want to continue to break the mold for little girls, for athletes, for woman, moms, and grandmas. I want to inspire change and create a path for woman to be the heroin of their own story. I want to induce enough inertia that generations of woman can look to those before them and desire to be "as strong as them" not only because of the life situations they have overcome but because that strength has infiltrated their entire being; body, mind and soul.

Every woman has the potential to accomplish these huge feats of strength and I want to help unleash that.

Honestly, it hasn't sunk in yet that I will be competing for the American Open in Olympic Lifting. I have been working very hard to minimize and hopefully eliminate thoughts of inadequacy, injury, and generally not being good enough. To compete at worlds will bring me one step closer to being the role model I so deeply desire to be and more importantly will show my clients that they can chase their dreams.

Your generous and loving donation/funding will help me with my road to The American Open and hopefully the Olympics. The amount I'm asking for is for the proper compition gear, hotel rooms for the nights we are there, food and transportation. Thank you so much for helping me reach and experience this part of my life and journey.
