Journey to Miss Maryland USA 2020!

And so, the journey begins…the road to Miss Maryland USA 2020!!!

It has been a long time coming. Year after year, I have watched the Miss USA pageant, marveling at the phenomenal women competing for a chance to represent the United States. With elegance and poise, each woman worked endlessly to make it to that stage. In 2020, I strive to be right there with them.

About Little Bit About Me!

I am the eldest of four children and one adorable dog, Willow. I work as a health insurance navigator where I do free in person health insurance enrollment assistance and outreach in Washington County. For fun, I love spending time with my family and friends, traveling, watching movies, and reading books. I also have a strong interest in fashion, with experience in runway and print modeling. Oh, and when the time allows for it, a good nap is great too!

Currently, I am attending Purdue University Global as a candidate for a Master of Science in Higher Education with a concentration in College Administration and Leadership. As an undergraduate student, I was heavily involved on campus as a member of the Campus Activities Board, the Women’s Track and Field Team, and a mentor in the Building on Diversity (BOND) Program as part of the Office of Multicultural Affairs. My involvement on campus is what is driving me toward a career in Higher Education.  I hope to one day become a Dean of Student Affairs for a post-secondary institution. In my position as a Dean and even before, I will advocate for diversity and the inclusion of all students strengthening purpose, retention and involvement on college campuses.

Why Me?

The experience of being Miss Maryland USA would be a spectacular opportunity. It will give me the chance to reach a larger audience for my platforms as well as connect to and solidify my relationship with my community and fellow Marylanders. As a titleholder, I would advocate for the awareness and condemnation of bullying and violence in our schools and communities, mental health education, and highlight the impact of technology and social media on communication skills and literacy. Additionally, I would endorse the importance of healthcare and strengthening access to community resources for underserved populations.

The road to Miss Maryland USA will not be an easy one. It takes time, diligence and a great deal of determination to get even a fraction closer to this goal. However, in reference to one of my favorite movies, I am not one to “let the fear of striking out, keep me from playing the game.”

To my dear friends and family, I would like to thank you for your support in the past. Today, I ask you for your contribution to this new journey. All proceeds will go toward dues for pageant weekend and pageant preparation (ie. hotel, meals, prize packages for winners, etc.) Below, please find the link to my GoFundMe. I greatly appreciate your help and as always, I treasure your support.

Thank you all in advance for sending me to Miss Maryland USA 2020!!! I hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Ally
