Journey to Jim Pearl's new kidney!
Donation protected
Jim Pearl has been battling Fabry Disease (www.fabrydisease.org) for the majority of his life. His kidney function had been steadily declining for years and in late 2019 the kidney function finally dropped to low enough levels where kidney dialysis was required. At the beginning of 2020, Jim had five operations / procedures to prepare for dialysis, but because of complications, Jim spent over a week in the hospital. Finally, in May, he was able to start kidney dialysis. Through much training Jim was able to transition to doing home kidney dialysis in August. Dialysis takes about 30 hours each week to accomplish.
Jim has not been able to work since January because of all the procedures, hospital stays and now doing kidney dialysis five days a week. Since January, God has provided through disability insurance, but finances remain incredibly tight. Because of COVID, all progress on getting a kidney transplant has slowed incredibly and will continue into the 2021 calendar year. Because of this it will greatly increase the out-of-pocket medical expenses to make it to transplant. There is a continued urgent need for money to help pay for Jim's insurance out-of-pocket and deductible expense, as well as the cost of his stay in Salt Lake City for a month after the transplant.
Thank you so much for all that you have given, it is so appreciated. Please continue to keep Jim and Angie in your prayers as they go through this next year and pray for God’s providence to help them financially.
Jim is the proud father of two kids in college Financial support and assistance to cover medical costs will help alleviate some of the financial stress, enabling Jim and Angie to focus on dialysis and the kidney transplant.
Specific breakdown of funds needed are:
$13000 - Out of pocket medical expenses
$2500 - Stay in SLC for 1 month following discharge from hospital. This will also cover a family member staying with him to provide care and transportation to medical appointments.
$2000 - gap funding
