Our sweet Ukrainian friend Dashka is traveling to the Slovak-Ukrainian border to offer her assistance to refugees.

 

There is an urgent need for translators who are helping psychologists and traumatized children. Dashka speaks Slovak, Russian, Ukrainian, English, and German. In addition, Dashka also has experience in food preparation and can give exhausted volunteers a desperately needed break.

 

She will meet and embrace families fleeing the terror of the invasion and provide food, personal care items, and help them find transport to safe accommodation.

 

Dashka lives on Bainbridge Island with her two school-aged boys and is leaving them here with their Slovakian father while she offers humanitarian support to those who need help, a hug, or a translator.

 

Dashka is a loving friend, a treasure in our community, and a caring and thoughtful mother. She works at Iggy's, a local Bainbridge Island kombucha brewery, and often gifts us fermented recipes that originate from her Ukrainian roots.

 

Dashka is an extraordinary generous soul, and we have felt powerless in how we could help her and her family that resides in Kyiv, and all Ukrainian people fleeing war during this tragic time.

 

All money donated will go directly to purchasing food and essential hygiene items, finding accommodations, and purchasing train or plane tickets to help transport people to safety.
