My name is Julian P. Hobdy, and I’ve recently begun an exciting and life-changing journey as a PhD student in Public Theology and Community Engagement at Hampton University. This program is more than an academic pursuit for me—it’s a calling. It represents my deep commitment to building bridges between faith, justice, and community transformation.

For over a decade, I’ve served as a pastor, educator, and community leader, working at the intersection of spirituality, education, and social change. My heart has always been to help people see that theology is not just an abstract idea—it is public, practical, and embodied in how we live, love, and serve one another. This PhD program is equipping me with the tools, research, and networks to expand that mission on a larger scale.
