Journey to Baby Bates

People always say it takes a village to raise a child. Well sometimes it takes a village to create one.
Our family is asking for your help as my sister & brother-in-law (Kayla and Conner Bates) start their IVF journey after several, disheartening failed attempts at carrying out a healthy pregnancy.
Conner and Kayla began trying to start a family in early 2020. After six months she talked with her OBGYN about trying to get pregnant and not having any success. They began trying medicine with her doctor in their hometown each month to see if that might help. At the end of 2021, they decided it was time to look at different options and try to get some answers on what might be going on. They had found a fertility doctor in Birmingham that cared and was passionate about helping them get pregnant. After numerous test and bloodwork everything came back perfect on both of them. They were grateful and optimistic knowing that there was no blockages or issues. She suggested they try a round of IUI at first just to see if this might help after trying on their own with no success. After five IUI cycles (intrauterine insemination) they were all unsuccessful. They were then told that they had Unexplained Infertility due to 30 months of failed pregnancy test, medicated cycles and 5 rounds of IUI that were unsuccessful. After all the heartbreak and unsuccessful cycles they decided they needed a break to pray and discuss the next option. Conner and Kayla met with their doctor at the beginning of August and she said the best option would be IVF ( In Vitro Fertilization).
To move forward, Conner and Kayla need to have $20,000 ready to go before starting the next steps. Insurance pays little to nothing for infertility treatments and, in their case, nothing. So, all their doctor appointments, blood draws, analyses, medications, IUIs, and IVF are out-of-pocket expenses. We know the past couple of years have been financially HARD for many folks. We understand that giving money to others is not an option for some. After all the hardship and heartbreak they’ve endured, let’s help Conner and Kayla in any way we can. Truly, any amount you can donate will help to ease the pain of this physical, mental, and emotional journey and mean more to them than they can probably express. If you know the Bates, you know they are the kindest, strongest, most compassionate, loving human beings and deserve to have the child they’ve been praying for.
