I could not watch how this profession was getting abandoned and forgotten as nobody wished to continue the work of a village blacksmith. So I wanted to do this myself. This is why from an economist I became a blacksmith.
For almost five years I had a forge in the city of Lodz. Together with my friend Emil , we reanimated old forge in the museum of old trams ( Brus Forge ) and after a year I developed my own shop and together with my brother (blacksmith) and my wife (silversmith) we started Iron Beard Forge .
As blacksmiths we not only worked in our shop, but always thought about other people who wanted to become blacksmiths. We participated in Lifetramp Experience, where everyone could be a blacksmith for a day in our forge just trying a new trade.
Unfortunately having a forge in a heart of big city is a big problem. We had to close our shop and move on. But the dream was never lost.
Now I have a rare opportunity to buy a workshop on the isle in Norway with my friend Rafal and open a blacksmith forge I have always dream of. But we do not have enough money and cannot get it in a short time (the property is on public sale and we have really small window to be first). We saved 25% of the capital and all needed equipment, but the rest is beyond our power.
My story ( Rafał )
I am architect and an interior designer. For almost 10 years I've been developing my visions of houses, marinas and other arch projects in Norway. Together with Przemek I want to establish a place where we could combine my experience with his vision of blacksmithing in XXI century. It will be awesome artistic and educational experience. Starting a forge as a hub for artists and interdisciplinary projects will also provide new opportunities for people living "next door" in our Norwegian kommune.
Your support for us is helping in establishing final place for Iron Beard Forge, as well as maintaining old trade.
Przemek & Rafal
In iron we trust.
We have beards.
We forge metal.
