Journey near the Brazos

Donation protected
Dear Everyone,

I hope this finds you and yours doing well and enjoying the lovely summer season. It has been a while since we last saw one another, so I wanted to share a life brief update. For the past four years I have been living in Waco, TX and during my time here, I have found a community of people that are a joy and gift to have in my life. Several of whom I met while attending Christ Church Waco, an Anglican church in the ACNA.

Christ Church Waco partners with the Brazos Fellows Program, a year-long fellowship designed to support the formation of individuals seeking a more integrated life in Christ. After much thought, I applied to join the program and I have been accepted into the coming year’s cohort!

The program is now in its eighth year and is centered around the following four components:
1. Spiritual disciplines – “embracing a rule of life and participating individually and communally in ancient Christian disciplines…” I am looking forward to delving deeper into spiritual disciplines with others and spiritual direction.
2. Life together – living in purposeful, community, cultivating a space for transformative relationships, while joining and serving in various capacities at Christ Church. All these things will be done in the community. It is in shared living that life holds meaning and where growth is life giving. Especially in a season of life for me, where so many things are changing and have changed.
3. Theological study – a journey through the depths and wisdom of the ancient church fathers. This setting of study appeals to me because it allows a flow of learning that is more organic and academically curious.
4. Vocational discernment – seeking to discern the many ways God is at work in our lives and to enter more deeply into his work for each of us.

Since coming to Christ Church, I have seen four cohorts of Fellows grow in Christ and heard how the Brazos Fellows program has deeply impacted their lives and faith. Joining this program means setting aside time for personal growth and attending to the internal work God has for me. I am looking forward to exploring the depth of the Story of the Church, the riches contained within and dreaming new dreams with the Lord.

As part of my larger life community, I would like to invite you to join with me in this particular community. There are several ways I would love to have your support. Please prayerfully consider how you might support my journey through prayer, monthly giving, or a one-time gift.

Prayer needs:
  • Preparation to begin the year well.
  • Part-time work for the year ahead while I attend the program.
  • Openness for what God has for me this year.

Financial needs:
Tuition for the Brazos Fellows program is $6,000, $5500 of this will cover tuition, coaching, spiritual direction, retreats, the remaining $500 will go towards living expenses like books, gas, and food.
Would you please consider making a monthly commitment of $50, $100 or $300 for the next six months?
If you would like to give a one-time gift you may do so here:
  • GoFundMe - here. :)
  • Venmo address - @Sara-Massie-MG.
  • Zelle
  • Check – please make it out to “Sara Massie” with Brazos Fellows in the memo line.

I would be happy to answer any questions you have or chat further. If you would be interested in following my journey during this program, I will be sending out a quarterly newsletter and you can also follow the Brazos Fellows blog here! We can meet for coffee or a meal if you are in Waco!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and consider partnering with me.

May the Peace of the Lord be with you!

In Christ,
Sara Massie
