Journey from Amish Life to Medical Research
Donation protected
When I left my Amish community in 2021, I planned to hike the Appalachian trail with my dog Sheila. I was devastated when Sheila died before the hike began, but I continued with my plans and hiked the trail solo from Maine through Virginia.
After the hike, on my own for the first time without my family or community, I built my tiny home, and a dog sitting clientele in Sheila’s memory, and started work toward a degree in medical research at community college. At the same time, I finally began working on my mental health. I was diagnosed with ptsd, and have been on a mental health journey ever since.
Now I’m planning a four week study abroad program to Ireland this summer as part of my degree path in medical research. I’m hoping to crowdfund $2000 for this program. Please like, share, and contribute if you can! I appreciate your support and love you all!
