Hello, my name is Nathan, and writing these words is something I never imagined I would have to do. Mita’s sister Heeta and I are asking for your help for our extraordinary wife and sister, Mita, who is bravely dealing with stage 4 breast cancer. She has been faced with impossible choices through the last 5 years, and we are now pursuing potentially life-saving treatment abroad — a chance that could mean more time, more memories, and more life with the people who love her beyond words.
Today, we find ourselves at a critical crossroads. Mita’s cancer is progressing, and the treatment options available to us in the UK are now very limited. We urgently need help to explore options outside the UK that may give her more time.
While most families are starting the New Year with hope and ambition, our 2026 is filled with uncertainty as we are preparing to make one of the most difficult decisions of our lives. We still have hope and one ambition to help Mita live longer to see in many more years with our two beautiful boys who are just 9 and 7.
Mita is the most resilient, loving, and special person we know. She brings light into every room and strength to everyone around her—but she cannot do this alone.
Our Story
Our journey began in late 2020 when Mita developed severe back pain. At the time, it was repeatedly dismissed as a normal part of life with young children, and she was sent away with strong painkillers. Months later, still in constant pain, Mita noticed changes in her breast, including nipple inversion and skin changes.
After seeing her GP, she was urgently referred to a breast clinic. Within days, we were told the devastating news—doctors strongly suspected cancer. A week later, this was confirmed. The worst news you could imagine as a 37 years old mother of two young children, our world was turned upside down.
Despite ongoing back pain, Mita had to push for a further 2 months to receive scans. When they were finally done, it was confirmed that the cancer had spread to her spine, causing one vertebra to collapse. She was immediately started on chemotherapy and underwent spinal surgery to stabilise her spine.
Armed with a determination to watch her kids grow up and grow old with me and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge Mita has poured every moment she can in researching and investing in herself to manage her disease. For nearly five years, she has defied expectations. However, a couple of years ago, the targeted treatment she was on stopped working and several treatment changes later we are running out of options as her cancer continues to spread and get more resistant.
Mita’s cancer has now spread throughout her spine, neck and pelvis. We seriously fear it is only a matter of time before it affects her mobility or spreads beyond her bones to vital organs or her brain. The time to act is now—while Mita is still strong, mobile, and able to care for herself.
Why We Need Your Help
We urgently need your help to enable us to travel to India to undergo treatment at a specialist clinic next month as Mita is currently off treatment. This option provides a personalised, comprehensive cancer approach that combines advanced medical treatment with holistic, complementary therapies under the care of leading specialists.
For us this treatment approach offers hope — hope for more time, more life, and more precious memories together as a family. Unfortunately, exploring this treatment is extremely expensive, and this is where we urgently need your help.
How You Can Help
• Donate, if you are able—every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference
• Share Mita’s story with others
• Keep Mita and our family in your thoughts and prayers
What the Funds Will Be Used For
Funds raised will go toward:
• Medical treatment and diagnostics
• Travel and accommodation costs
• Reducing the financial burden on our family so I can spend more time caring for Mita
• Helping protect our children’s future during this incredibly uncertain time
Mita also plans to document and share her journey to offer hope, guidance, and empowerment to others facing similar challenges.
We know times are difficult for many people, and we are deeply grateful for any support you can offer. Every donation brings us one step closer to giving Mita more time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
With gratitude,
Nathan & Heeta
