Journee's Going to Xavier University of Louisiana

Journee is GRADUATING friends!!

Where has the time gone?! It has been an overwhelming pleasure to raise such an amazing, bright and beautiful young lady. It hasn’t always been easy but through it all Journee has truly overcome all obstacles. This could have never happened without her village and I truly want honor her and you during this season.
 It was evident at the age of six that Journee was destined for the medical industry when I caught her in her bedroom cutting the scalp off of one her dolls. Flabbergasted I asked, “what are you doing?” she replied “mommy, the baby needs emergency brain surgery, or she was going to die!” From that point on Journee made it her mission to work hard (and mean my baby was working y’all) to achieve all the accolades in honor of becoming a Cardiothoracic Surgeon.
Over the years Journee has achieved certificates in honor roll, national honor society, the Principles List, United States Presidents’ awards, and more. Journee has also been her school’s Black Student Union President, a peer tutor/mentor as well as a 2021 Washington Rhinestone Debutante.
            Journee applied and was accepted into 12 schools who offered her academic scholarships including Spelman College, Chicago State University, Clark Atlanta University, Arizona State University and more. After strong consideration Journee has accepted a full ride to Xavier University of Louisiana as a Chemistry (Pre-med) Major.
            The African proverb stands true, it really takes a village to raise a child. And you all have been an amazing aspect in Journee’s life. From investing in her through programs, mentorship, her outstanding collection of aunties and uncles, down to my favorite mission/club SOUL babysitters. Each of you have played a major part in her life and we love and thank you so much.    
Many have asked of ways to bless Journee during this transition so please consider this GoFundMe. We are collecting funds to assist Journee during her time in Louisiana. Although she has procured a full ride for her academics this does not include books, moving expenses, dorm items, monthly allowance and more. Our hope is that Journee can focus on her education during her freshman year and make this smooth of transition as possible.  We thank you in advance for your beautiful gift and look forward to seeing you all soon.
