Who I'm raising money for:
On Saturday March 28, 2020, Joupana Beach Resort was looted and set ablaze by "a hired mob of at least 30-40 people." The resort is located in Port Francais, a hillside village in the northern coast of Haiti. The sole business in the area, the Resort contained 20 rooms and hired more than a dozen locals. Its owner, Jude Jean-Gilles, invested over $2 million in life and retirement savings on this coastal gem, which did not yet have property insurance.

During the gruesome attack, generators, refrigerators, boats, chairs, tables and countless furnitures were stolen before all 4 buildings and cabanas were set on fire. In a country where the majority are unemployed, many locals are left without an income and no means to feed their children. 15 warrants were issues, yet the long and expensive legal battle has only just begun. The head of the mob was arrested but the masterminds are yet to be apprehended.
Why I'm raising money:
Haiti is a country with a very complicated, complex and corrupt legal system. Finding any type of justice is a very long and expensive battle.
How donations will be used:
Funds will be used for payment of attorney, investigators, and court fees associated with the very long legal fight ahead.
Your donation to this cause, of any amount, will be greatly appreciated as there is a long battle ahead. Together, we can all prevail.
