Josie's 'What if?'

Josie has been on the waiting list for the Marcus Autism Center's Intensive Feeding Therapy Program since December, since she has yet to make great strides at eating by mouths from her illness and subsequent food aversion in March 2018.  We received word this past Thursday that a spot has opened up beginning Monday of next week (June 17th).  The feeding program is an intensive, 5 days/week therapy program that lasts 8 weeks.  The goal for her attendance in the program is to overcome the food aversion & begin eating a variety of foods & textures upon completion.  She will have to keep the G-tube in place until she can and will reliably consume enough calories by mouth to sustain her high energy & growth rate.

The Marcus Center is associated with Children’s Hospital of Atlanta (CHOA).  Beginning Monday, Josie, John (he will be 11 weeks old), and Jan will be residing in Atlanta for 8 weeks, while James will remain (mostly) at home with the dogs and will be working.  Please keep the family in your prayers.  The feeding program will be stressful on all of them; Josie during her participation, and the family as a while living apart for an extended period of time.  Jan am in the process of researching foundations and grants to help offset the cost of lodging, meals, etc.  If you know of any foundations or grants that could help offset the cost, please send them to Jan.  You may send her a facebook message or email her at [email redacted].

Thank you for your support and all prayers are greatly appreciated.

**This page was started when Josie was 1 to help the family cover medical expenses.  Josie will be 3 years old July 13, 2019.  Josie is blessed with an extra chromosome which allows her to have Downs Syndrome.
