Hi! This is Josie, a senior terrier mix who has experienced a ruff few months. Sweet Josie lost her owner in early March and then a month later, while out on her daily walk, she was attacked by a Great Dane. The dog was let outside by a friend helping out the owner who was working a 13 hr shift. Josie suffered some major wounds and required emergency surgery. My wife's elderly grandma had been taking care of Josie and didn't know if she could do the work to nurse Josie back to health post surgery. My wonderful, animal loving wife, Molly took Josie into our home to do daily bandage changes, debridement of wounds and monitored her quality of life.
Josie's surgery and the follow up vet visits total over $5,000. The owners of the dogs at fault have been doing their best to cover costs, however, they experienced financial hardship due to COVID-19. They are planning to contribute monthly but this was another blow to their family.
Josie is almost 100% healed and is ready to live out her Golden Years with Molly's grandma. Molly continues to do bandages changes and Josie is back to her sassy self, demanding walks and carrots. I made this go-fund-me for Molly, her Grandma Nancy, Josie and the owners at fault for her attack. Any small donation will help to reimburse Grandma Nancy in a timely manner, as well as cover the cost of the medical supplies Molly purchased to care for Josie.
Thank you so much for your help! Please share with your friends and family even $5 will help.
First day home:
5/5/21- most of the tissue above ended up dying and was removed, leaving big open wounds potentially requiring a second surgery. Due to Molly's care Josie has grown enough tissue back to likely not need another surgery! The wounds are exponentially smaller and very healthy! Josie has ace bandages to help her keep clean.
