One of my favourite things about Josie is that she made everyone she met feel like they were special. Like their story mattered. And she did it without even trying, it was simply who she was. Her ability to connect with anyone was inspiring. Even if you had just met, she made your smile a little bigger, your heart a little warmer and your world a little brighter.
5 years ago, our world got a little darker. Josie's bold and brilliant soul was taken from our lives far too soon. At 17, she was the heart of the youth in our small community. No matter what group or crowd you ran with, you knew Josie, you admired Josie and you considered her a friend.
Josie's Memorial Friendship Bench will be placed in Almonte for friends and family to gather and cherish these friendships. It will also be a place for those who didn't know her to enjoy the beauty she left behind; to share stories and connect with each other.
The bench will cost approximately 2,000 and then there is a fee for a plaque to placed on it in her honour. If you feel inclined - please donate to help remember Josie and share this link with your story about what Josie meant to you.
One of my biggest fears is how with each passing day, her memories get fainter in my mind. The idea that time persists without her is hard enough, but its even scarier to imagine a day when she won't be there in my mind. Please help Josie be remembered in our hearts forever.
