JOSIE and DASH to Wellington and Back!

Donation protected
This is my first Go Fund Me campaign, and it's a very special one! This is a long campaign pitch, but please stick with me!

Since the day our neighbor brought his horse to our house and led me and Emily around the lawn on our first pony rides, I knew I had to have horses in my life. I was 10 years old, but wasn't able to ride consistently until my late 30s. I had to wait until the age of 50 (!!) to be thoroughly and happily owned by a 2-year-old Sassy Colt, Novitas, and an 11-year-old Perfect Gentleman, Darshan HM (Dash).

I've declared since my 30s that I'm going to be a brilliant rider some day, and represent the United States when I'm 80. Late starts and life just happening the way it does are likely road blocks. SO, when you aren't able to realize some of your own horsey dreams, the absolute next best thing is helping SOMEONE ELSE realize theirs.

I met Josie DeChaine in June 2017 when I began riding with Karry Brothers at Emerald Glen Equestrian Center. Josie was 13 years old, earning riding lessons by doing every bit of work she could lay her hands on at the barn. She's a focused bundle of determination and optimism, and has been dreaming of going to Wellington since I've known her.

Note for Non-Horsey Friends: Wellington, FL, is a winter HORSE MECCA. Young guys and gals such as Josie are offered working student positions for professional riders, doing an unbelievable amount of work for 6 months, in exchange for top notch riding lessons and breathing the same air as Olympians.  The massive amount of work they do earns the board for their horse and the cost of their lessons, and everything else (accommodations, transportation for self, transportation for horse, boxes of tissues for homesickness spells, a 6-month supply of Ramen noodles and Kraft macaroni and cheese) is up to them.

Through a combination of hard work, sheer grit and a big pinch of fairy dust, Josie has been offered a working student position with Warren-McMullin Dressage for the 2020-2021 winter season in Wellington! Yay Josie! She can't go without bringing a majestic steed to ride, so I'm sending my Perfect Gentleman, Dash, to Florida with her to share the adventure. They leave in THREE WEEKS!

Shipping a horse from Massachusetts to Florida is an expensive undertaking, To keep Josie's dream moving along, I've committed to help her raise $4,500 to cover the cost of professional equine transport to and from Florida. Would you consider helping us achieve this goal by making a donation to our "JOSIE and DASH to Wellington and Back!" campaign? No amount is too small. You don't have to love all things horsey to donate, you just have to love helping make a dream come true. Thank you!!
