Many of you know that my partner, Josiah, has been sick for some time. We don't know what he has, and the doctors and specialists are at a loss. As we investigate his symptoms and work toward getting a diagnosis, we need to keep making rent and bills.
It's been almost a year now since Josiah tried working, and it was impossible to do and made his body deteriorate so much faster. The following month, I took a job at the grocery store nearby. This brought in adequate income until March of this year, when I left for Josiah's safety in the early days of the pandemic. I also left because Josiah is mostly bedridden and he needed my help at home.
Since I've been home for a few months, every day has been busy investigating Josiah's illness. I've been making phone calls, figuring out transportation, cooking according to his limited dietary needs, monitoring his blood pressure, organizing virtual and in-person appointments, and more.
The pandemic is still a threat. I can't take another service job without putting him at risk. We also can't get started on applying for disability benefits until a diagnosis is official, and even then the process can take years.
We've set a goal of $2000 to get us through the next few months. This, plus Patreon, is enough to cover rent and utilities and other living expenses.
We wouldn't be asking right now if it wasn't an urgent need. Right now there are so many people in need of support. We would be out protesting if we could, but unfortunately this is taking over every aspect of our lives.
If you can help, we appreciate it so much. If you can't, sharing helps, too.
