Hi my name is Joshua Jacobsen, my wife Valeria and I recently lost our son Josiah Royal Jacobsen on February 19, 2023. Josiah was born on January 31, 2023. He was born at a mere 22 weeks and 1 day gestational age. He weighed just under 1 pound and only 9 1/2" long. Thanks to the wonderful staff at UC Davis Med Center NICU in Sacramento Ca they were able to offer our boy a chance at life. Although Josiah was small in size he had the heart of a fighter. He had two surgeries on his stomach done within the first two weeks of life. He was so loved by his family, NICU team and even hundreds of people online too. He was a beautiful boy and always made his mother and I so proud for showing us the strength he had within. He loved being read stories, his favorite being "Good Night Moon", holding our hands and he even liked when I would tickle his feet and count his little toes. Unfortunately even tho Josiah's surgery was successful the recovery from surgery was very hard on him. He fought so hard to be here but ultimately it was too much to overcome. Josiah passed away in the arms of his mother and I. We thank everyone for the support you have shown us in this nightmare. We never wanted to lose Josiah or have to bury our beautiful boy. Josiah will be missed everyday and never forgotten. He is with the Lord in the glorious Heaven watching down on his Mother and I. He will always be remembered for his strength.
