Hi I’m Josiah Mendoza.
This last week has been a chaotic time in my life.
I had planned to move into my own apartment today July 1st. I was ready to step into my own space and do something good for myself that I’ve been wanting for years. I was able to gather up every dollar I had to fund this move, only to arrive to the property and discover I’ve been part of a rental scam, having already paid the deposit and first month’s rent. Now left with practically $0, I’m starting from scratch and asking for help.
I’ve put my belongings in a storage unit and am staying on a friend’s couch until I’m able to get on my feet.
In the midst of this chaos, my car was in crossfire during a homicide yesterday on June 30 that took place directly next to my car where two of my windows were shattered. My insurance is declining to cover charges, so I am left with a $600 bill to fix the windows. I am doing everything I can to stay strong. $3000 of my hard earned money was lost, and now I’m left with even more bills than ever before. I’m grateful to be alive, safe, and healthy with a support system around me to keep me safe. Anything helps as I figure out what to do these next few weeks.
