On Thursday, January 18th 2024 Courtney and Josiah entered Chandler Regional Hospital to begin their new life as amazing, loving parents. In a sudden turn of events, after 30 hours of labor, Courtney was rushed off in critical condition for an emergency 'C' section early Friday morning. The day turned from a day of joy to a day of horror when Courtney suddenly and tragically passed from an Amniotic fluid embolism while giving birth to their beautiful baby boy Carter. Carter was delivered unresponsive but was able to be resuscitated and then air lifted from Chandler Regional Hospital to the NICU at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. Carter is still in the NICU undergoing treatment while he awaits an MRI in the coming days.
Josiah had to go home that abhorrent Friday without his wife, without his son, and without a clue of what to do next. In the days since, his friends and family have flown to Arizona to be with him and help him navigate this unfathomable turn of events. Josiah is now with his brother, aunt, and Courtney's family attempting to grasp the situation.
Josiah was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and has been a standout software project engineer for Boeing for the last 7 years. Courtney had become a registered nurse in 2022 and both were planning for the future for them and their son. Josiah is now a single father, nowhere near his family and friends in the Pacific Northwest.
The hope of this fundraiser is to help Josiah cover the heinous medical bills that are soon to hit his mailbox, provide Carter with basic baby needs (diapers, formula, clothes, etc.), and to help Josiah make the transition home to Washington to surround Carter and himself with his family, friends, and support system.
Any amount is beyond appreciated. God Bless
