UPDATE: This fundraiser will finish on Thursday Sept. 10 as Josiah's school fees are due this week. Thanks everyone for your support!
Our young friend, Josiah Francis, needs our support.
Josiah received an incredible opportunity to join the Elite Basketball Program at J.Addison School, a private academy in Markham. Because of his very high grades and dedication to basketball, Josiah received a scholarship worth $18,000 to attend. However, he needs to raise $6500 to meet the full tuition and cover basic expenses.
You can help Josiah reach his goals.
Here's why he needs your support: Growing up in a single-parent home in Malvern, Josiah realized his love for basketball after joining a team shortly after his father died 7 years ago. Currently on disability due to an injury, his mom - an Early Childhood Educator - does not have the funds required to meet the full tuition.
We have an opportunity to lean in and be part of Natalie and Josiah's village.
We can help Josiah reach this goal and make this exceptional educational opportunity a reality. For Josiah, basketball keeps him out of trouble. When he plays, he says it helps him clear his mind and just do what comes naturally to him.
It's not just a love of the sport either - he has maintained honour roll grades these last few years. Josiah turns 15 in October and starts Grade 10 this fall.
All of us who know Josiah knows that he is a kind, smart, supportive young man, and I can't think of anyone more deserving of this opportunity.
Can you support Josiah's Basketball Academy Fund?
These have been really trying days for most of us in many different ways. If you are able to make a financial contribution to support Josiah, it is greatly appreciated.
About J. Addison's Elite Basketball Program (from the school)
At J. Addison School we provide our students with opportunities for growth in all facets of life: intellectually, socially, and personally. Our Elite Basketball Program was designed with this in mind to aid in developing our student-athletes’ innate talent
and to have them reach their greatest potential. With an experienced coaching staff, a nurturing team and school environment, and a competitive basketball schedule, players will learn the importance of teamwork, leadership, self-discipline, as well as how to deal with adversity when trying to realize their personal goals. Our Elite Basketball Teams regularly compete against strong, accomplished teams through scrimmages and by participating in prestigious tournaments across Canada and the United States. By building upon their foundations we empower our student-athletes to succeed at the next level and in life.
Thank you for your support
-- Note this was written by one of Josiah's godmothers, Karen, in agreement with Nat and Jo (I'm so proud of Josiah and hope we can do this for him!!)
