Joshua's First Year on Tour

Thanks for stopping by. I hope this better explains my motivations and plans for 2023. I love playing golf and competing, the feeling of getting a good round going, the pressure of hitting golf shots late in a round. I love the continual learning process and talking shop with other players; about practice, about how to hit a certain shot. My goal is to make enough money playing golf to support myself (and maybe a family) and do it full-time. For this to happen, I need your help.

Professional golf requires a financial commitment that I do not have. There are costs associated with travel, entry fees, caddie fees, and regular living expenses like food, housing, and access to a practice facility. Ideally, these would all be taken care of with prize money from tournaments. Most developmental tours I’m looking to start on have tournaments with prize purses in the $75-$100,000 USD range, with the winner receiving $10-$12,000 USD. However, form is fickle and a few missed cuts or poor finishes quickly puts one behind the curve. It is therefore in my interest to have a cushion to weather such periods.

At the moment I’m looking to play mainly in Asia. It’s a region with developmental tours that feed the top players into bigger tours with bigger prize purses. For example, the Asian Development Tour (ADT) feeds its top players into the Asian Tour. Additionally, the costs of living and travel tend to be lower and I foresee myself being able to make a more sustained run at professional golf, as opposed to playing the more expensive mini-tour events in the US. I'm entered in the Asian Tour Qualifying School which takes place in Jan 2023, which will give me a shot at getting starts on the Asian Tour or the Asian Development Tour.

Some of the ways you could help include making a financial contribution or connecting me with people or facilities you might know who would like to help. Based on data from a current player on the ADT, I’m looking to raise about $40,000 USD. This covers all expenses for the year (tournaments, travel, housing, food, practice facilities, etc.) I plan to move to Asia at the end of 2022 to base myself there and play on the Asian Tour or ADT as well as local tours in the area. This would allow me to play an estimated 30-32 events in 2023. Golf is an ‘individual’ sport but there are so many other people who influence a golfer and provide opportunities for him/her to hone their skills. The golfer gets nowhere on his own. I invite you to be one of these people. If you would like to know more, please shoot me an email and I'd be happy to talk!
