Help Joshua Fight Cancer and Keep Guiding Young Lives
At just 26 years old, my nephew, Joshua Stuckey is facing the battle of his life, but he's not facing it alone.
Joshua has dedicated his life to guiding others. As a youth pastor at Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, he leads 5th and 6th graders through the joys and challenges of growing in faith, friendship, and life. But now, he’s facing a life challenge no one his age should ever have to endure: an aggressive form of stomach cancer that has spread to numerous lymph nodes throughout his body.
This diagnosis came just days after one of the happiest moments of his life, getting engaged to Elizabeth, a special education teacher whose heart and strength have stood beside Joshua every step of the way. In the face of devastating news, they didn’t give up on love—they moved their wedding up and got married in March in a beautiful, intimate ceremony surrounded by loved ones.
Despite undergoing intense chemotherapy and immunotherapy, Joshua continues to do what he can to show up for his students and community. His faith and commitment remain strong, even as his body fights a difficult battle.
Now, Joshua’s medical team is referring him to MD Anderson Cancer Center, which is 925 miles from his home for a possible surgery to remove his entire stomach—a grueling but necessary step toward survival. The road ahead will be long and painful, with multiple trips, temporary housing, and extensive recovery time.
We’re asking for your help to raise $30,000 to support:
- Medical expenses not covered by insurance
- Travel and lodging for Joshua and Elizabeth to and from MD Anderson
- Ongoing care and recovery needs as Joshua prepares for and heals from major surgery
- Ensuring Joshua and Elizabeth don't need to worry about food and housing while they navigate this battle.
Joshua has spent his adult life lifting others up. Now it’s our turn to lift him.
If you've ever known the warmth of a caring mentor, the power of love in the face of fear, or the strength of faith during adversity, please consider donating to support Joshua and Elizabeth. No gift is too small. Every dollar, every prayer, every share of this page helps.
Please stand with them. Let’s show Joshua that he’s not alone in this fight.
With deep gratitude,
Joshua’s family, friends, and faith community
