Joshua Scoble-Home Modifications

Hello! My name is Joshua Scoble. I am fourteen-years-old and in 9th grade. We live in Emmaus, PA. I have Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP). FOP is quite rare, 1 in 2 million people are born with it and there are approximatly 800 confirmed cases worldwide.   Essentially, FOP causes my muscles and ligaments to turn to bone. Any type of trauma,  common cold, or a virus could trigger a “flare”.  A “flare” is when the body generates new bone growth. The new bone growth is prohibiting me from doing simple things such as walking and bending any of my joints. Because FOP is a progressive disorder, my mobility is steadily declining, which brings me to why I am reaching out for your help. My motorized wheelchair weighs nearly 400 lbs.! My house is closer to being nearly wheelchair friendly, thanks to the previous donations. The issue is now being in my bedroom while in my wheelchair. I can get my wheelchair just inside the doorway, enough for me to get out of it and into a chair or my bed. My bedroom is currently only 7 feet wide. My family and friends have been actively raising funds for FOP research. Every penny that has been raised, over the past 13 years, went directly to FOP research.
