Help Joshua Heal After His Dirt Bike Accident

Donation protected
On Saturday, September 6th, my cousin Joshua was in a serious dirt bike accident. He was rushed into surgery that night with a fractured skull, scalp injuries, and a small subarachnoid brain bleed. His injuries also include extensive road rash and damage to his ear bones, which may affect his hearing.

Doctors were able to shift enough scalp during surgery that they avoided the need for an artificial graft—an important step that will help speed his healing. Since then, he’s been kept intubated and sedated in the ICU while his body and brain recover. He has faced several challenges: agitation when waking, repeat intubations, complications with his kidney, and constant monitoring for brain swelling. Despite all this, the medical team remains hopeful, and every small step forward feels like a huge victory.

Right now, the plan is to keep him sedated and intubated until at least Friday, with a possible temporary trach afterward to make breathing support and medications easier on him.

Why We’re Asking for Help

Joshua had just started a new job at Broulim’s and was only a few weeks away from completing his 90-day probationary period. That means his benefits haven’t kicked in yet—he has no health insurance, and no short-term disability income will be coming in while he takes the time he needs to heal.

The costs for ICU care, surgeries, imaging, and specialist consults are already overwhelming, and there will be a long road ahead with rehabilitation, follow-up appointments, and time away from work.

How Your Support Will Help

Your donations will go directly toward:

Covering Josh’s medical bills during this critical time.

Helping with living expenses while he cannot work.

Providing support for his Wife and two children as they spend countless hours at the hospital and care for Josh’s needs once he’s home.

Every contribution—big or small—will help ease this burden and allow the family to focus on what matters most: Joshua's healing.

If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page to spread the word. Most of all, please keep Joshua and his family in your thoughts and prayers as he continues to fight and heal.
