Hi I’m Joshua Walker,
On 6th July I fly to Kenya with Camps International. Completely self funded with so many generous donations from fundraisers and last years triathlon! One final push needed to help cover all costs.
While there my group will be involved in a range of projects, helping to support education and community development in two rural communities. We'll live and work alongside local people, learning about the challenges faced by local people as well as the rich tradition and culture of Kenya.
To help fund this incredible opportunity I did a triathlon last May and now for one final push on Saturday 23rd May 2026 I will be doing 12 hours on a basketball court playing non stop. The more people come down to join the better, to play or just support to keep the ball bouncing. I'll be on Eagle Farm basketball court, Biggleswade from 8am to 8pm.
Whilst in Kenya I am hoping to build on a variety of values such as empathy, hard work and humility however I don't just want to take and build on personal things. A large reason for wanting to go is to help the local communities we will be living with in a multitude of different ways such as building schools, wells or even creating fun experiences for both older and younger members of the communities that will be hosting us and getting involved in conservation projects.
Camps International is the organisation my school will be travelling with. This is the link https://www.campsinternational.com
They are a social enterprise so not like a normal school trip but one that gives back to society and the planet with a purpose to offer something back to the place we visit rather than simply being a tourist.
Thanks so much for your support!
Every penny counts and seeing u at the court will be a great help!
I'll be at Eagle Farm park basketball Court, Biggleswade 18th April 2026 8am to 8pm.
