Hey everyone! My name is Josh Hall and I have exciting news to share with you!
I have always been the guy who never really knew what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. I never really had a super specific goal or dream that I was striving for. For some time now I have been contemplating WHY this was the case. How come everyone around me is moving on with life and following their dreams? After some time of self-discovery, I realized that I have been lacking PASSION. Once I realized that I was lacking passion I immediately started praying that the Lord would ignite a new passion in me, not knowing or caring what it would be. I spent time wrestling with God's Will for my life and trying to understand why I was not gravitating towards any specific interests. I felt ready for the next chapter of life but was not sure what the next chapter should look like.
Through prayer and research I came across opportunities for change. I have been presented with opportunities to change career, housing situation, relationship status, etc. But after deep contemplation I realize that those changes will not quench the desire for change that I am looking for. I have been looking at all of the blessings in my life and the accumulation of life circumstances. Once I realized everything going on in my world it was clear to me. God has been preparing me for missions. Everything is pointing towards missions.
As I explored different missions opportunities I came across an organization called the YWAM (Youth With A Mission). They are a global missions organization that has different DTS (Discipleship Training Schools) in locations all across the world. After researching more into the programs I applied to a DTS school in Belize.
At the DTS, I will dive into a journey of faith and leadership beginning in Belize, and will take me to places I can hardly imagine – in both geography and soul! This mission training program will help empower me to live, love, and lead – Christ-like – throughout the world.
DTS is much more than a school – its a five-month, faith-building, soul-searching, adventure of following Jesus. The school is conducted in two phases (lecture and outreach) with an optional third phase (internship).
The first three months of my DTS experience takes place at a campus in Belize. Each week I’ll pursue God by exploring a different topic, each taught by a dynamic speaker. In addition to great teachings, my days will include small groups, one-on-one discipleship, prayer, worship, team building and adventure opportunities that will make for an exciting three months of personal growth.
After the lecture phase, I’ll embark on a two-month cross-cultural outreach, activating my learning and faith like never before. It’s tough. It’s intense. It’s awesome. I’ll probably face primitive living conditions, long days, hard work and other challenges. I’ll live, work, worship, pray and minister with a team (led by YWAM staff members). Sharing God’s love in word and deed can take many different shapes so I'm not sure what exactly to expect. Outreach locations are prayerfully determined during the lecture phase and could be anywhere in the world so it's a big step of faith!
I have gone through the application process, interview, and have accepted the opportunity for this soul-searching mission trip that begins in January 2016! Now I am working through all the logistical details that come with planning.
The "control freak" in me says there is too much planning in so little time... that it's not possible to take such a huge step with so little notice. The truth is that this is a huge leap of faith and it makes me uncomfortable. My biggest weakness is that I'm not good at stepping out of my comfort zone. However, the Lord has assured me that He will provide for me if I take this step out of my comfort zone to serve Him. Yall are my closest friends and I ask that you rally behind me. I need your faithful prayer, encouragement, and support throughout the duration of this new journey.
I really dont like asking people for donations but I would love to provide you with an opportunity to support me financially if the Lord is tugging at your heart to be a blessing. This trip is not cheap but I cannot let that be my reason not to go explore my calling. I believe that with your support I can go. This is the time of life God has called me to take this step of faith!
With your help I will be developed into God's instrument for reaching lost people internationally! He has prepared me by blessing me with the life-situation where I can go right NOW. The beautiful thing is that the Lord equips some people to GO and some people to SEND. He may not be calling you to go at this stage of life but perhaps He is calling you to send... Well I give you an opportunity:
SEND ME, I'LL GO!
I end with a sincere THANK YOU. You have all played a role in shaping me into the man I am today and I am grateful for you. I appreciate prayer, encouragement, and financial support through this uncertain yet exciting chapter of life. God bless!
Love,
Josh Hall
