Emergency - Leaving USA
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all doing well. I'm reaching out to you in hopes that you might be able to help with my current situation as I am trying to begin my Masters Degree at the University of Alabama-Huntsville. I am supposed to begin classes the Fall of 2018. I have been volunteering this year for the University while I was supposed to be on my OPT year. Unfortunately due to some incidents that were out of my control, my OPT (12 month work visa) was denied.
I am still awaiting on a couple pieces of paperwork with my official explanation and next steps to take. After speaking with immigration representatives at the school and seeing an immigration attorney I believe my best bet is to return back home to England as soon as possible and apply for a new student visa. This will give me the best chance of being able to return in August and begin my Master’s program as I had originally planned. The problem is that since my OPT was denied I am currently in an overstay status with my "clock" ticking day by day and each day could hurt my chances of being granted this new visa.
With this leave being so unaccepted and sudden, I have quite a few outgoing payments that need to be sorted like my rent and phone contract. I also need to get back to Nebraska to get the rest of my belongings in a worst case scenario if I am not granted my new visa. Id like to also take that opportunity to say a final goodbye to all my friends here in America before I need to get a flight returning home, to England.
I have always tried to support myself and hate asking for help, but I have found myself in an unexpected situation where I don't know what else to do. My family and I would be extremely appreciative with any sort of help that you could provide. I sincerely hope that I can get the chance to come back to pursue my continuing education with a masters degree and carry on this "American dream". I would also be looking for a flight back to America in August when I hopefully have a new visa granted!
I have estimated that these expenses and responsibilities will be approximately $3000. To help with these costs, I’ve created a GoFundMe, which you can view here:
