So it's taken me a little bit to be able to come to terms with exactly what happened. Now that he is home safely and put back together I can exhale.
As most anyone that knows my boys knows by now that on Wednesday November 21, 2018 at 8:14 PM my heart about stopped as I got that mothers most dreaded heartwrenching phone call that no mother ever wants to receive. My Joshua was hit by a truck pretty much head on by a Jeep Cherokee while riding his motorcycle. Joshua's bike went about 50 feet or so before coming to rest on the sidewalk while his body went another 50 feet after his body hit a parked car and then falling off that onto the curb. His father and myself coming from different locations made it to the scene before rescue left with him. We wont discuss how fast either of us were going to get there. He was taken to MCV where they basically x-rayed his entire body there in the trauma unit. I can not even begin to fathom the physical pain he was in but I know the pain it caused his father and myself to hear him screaming in pain and feeling helpless knowing there was nothing either of us could do to help him. By the grace of God he came out of it with only a compound fracture of the tibia and a compound fracture of his big toe. Both of which came through the skin when they broke. As well as 2 busted up knees that required stitches. On Thanksgiving Joshua had surgery and had a rod and screws put in his leg that goes from his knee to his ankle. This evening Joshua was released from the hospital and is now home resting. Now he will start his long and painful recovery with not only the healing process but the physical therapy that he will have to endure to get him up and walking again. During this time he will not be able to work and at this time there is no timeframe on when he will be able to return to work as he does face the possibility of another surgery later on. While it will be stressful and I am sure we will have many battles during this process I will take it over what the possibility of what it could have been. My son may have been broken up and put back together but at least I can walk in there and see his face and not have to visit his grave and for that I am so blessed and thankful for. Please continue to keep him in your prayers and thank you so much to all those texts, phone calls and those that came to the hospital. I know my son is truly loved by many.
Please when you are driving please be looking out of those that ride on 2 wheels. Doesnt matter that it's cold now those that love it do it year round no matter how cold it is. Please share the road they have loved ones they want to see and the loved ones want to see them come home. If you hear a bike know where it is before you change lanes or before you make turns. If everyone did many of these accidents could be avoided.
I will share the pics of his bike and his xray of his leg but I will spare you the pics of the before surgery and stitches pictures.
Again thank you for keeping my baby in your prayers please continue.
