Hello! My name is Ashley and I am a friend/coworker to Piper Waltman, Josh's Mom. We have a pretty tight knit work family at REMSA Dispatch and we know that Josh has been struggling with medical issues for quite some time now. When we all heard about his recent diagnosis, we wanted to show our support in a few ways -- one of which was to create a Gofundme account for Josh’s medical expenses and for Piper’s missed time at work due to his ongoing illness. Here's a little bit about Josh and his battle against Cystic Fibrosis:

Josh is 17 years old and currently attending North Valleys High School online due to his health conditions. He is working hard and trying to graduate early in December! He was working at Walmart to help with medical expenses, but has been unable to work more recently. Josh has been struggling with health problems for about three years and was just diagnosed this month with Cystic Fibrosis. What they know right now is that this disease has been attacking his pancreas the most, preventing his body from absorbing nutrients, leaving him malnourished, underweight and unable to fight off common illnesses effectively. It’s been a long road of ups, downs and unknowns... but thankfully they have an answer to what is going on and are now in the process of formulating a treatment plan for Josh. There is no cure for CF, but there are many promising medications that do help those diagnosed with living a happier, more comfortable and longer life. On top of this recent diagnosis, Josh also tested positive for COVID-19... we are all hoping this doesn’t create any more complications for him. 

Over the years, medical expenses have piled up and Piper has had to miss many days at work due to supporting Josh at home, taking him to doctor appointments and numerous visits to the ER. As of right now, Josh must continue with regular visits, continuous testing and treatment with medication. If we can help to alleviate even some of their financial stress through this process, that would be something ❤️ Thank you in advance to anyone that is able to help this amazing family financially, every little bit counts! If you are unable to donate, but still want assist in some way, a couple of ideas are: prepare a family meal, buy and drop off some groceries, deliver any needed supplies or even a card/phone call for positive thoughts! All of these things are so helpful, especially with the family currently in quarantine at home.
