Honor Josh's memory and help support his children
Donation protected
My name is Kate Brennan, and I am a friend of Josh Theriault-Patten's family. I know his 9-year-old daughter Journey because I work with her mom. Her co-workers are coming together to fundraise to support the family as they grieve this unimaginable loss.
On Sunday night, Josh was in a tragic head-on collision and died. He was just 37 years old. We are fundraising to cover Josh's funeral expenses and create a fund for his children. All funds will go directly to Staples Funeral Home in Gardiner and then to his son Christopher, who turns 15 today (2/13), and daughter Journey to cover their future needs.
Throughout all of life's challenges, Josh was persistent, unwavering, and always making progress. His early years were very hard but he never gave up. He was so proud of each milestone, as they did not come easy; like getting his license, his job at BIW and being able to be there for his daughter. Josh worked at BIW in Department 66 as a 102 insulator. Josh had his son Christopher when he was very young and at a difficult time in his life. He loved Christopher very much and he was working to rebuild a relationship with him. The early trauma of his life and growing up in the system put barriers in Josh’s path at every turn. Every accomplishment took dedication.
Josh, Journey, and Christopher bonded over their love of racing, all regular fixtures at the Wiscasset Speedway, where Josh's closest friend and Christopher's uncle, Scott Trask, has raced for many years.
Journey and Josh were the most active pair, always busy, catching frogs, fishing, and sledding. They would visit farms to pet the goats, one of Journey's favorite activities. Despite challenges, every weekend was devoted to fun and connection.
The loss of their father creates a void that is deeply felt by Christopher and Journey. We want to honor the life of Josh and also give his children the goodbye they deserve, to know that their dad was important and loved and he mattered.
Please give what you can and please share widely!
We will update this page with details about the funeral and other ways we can support the family during this time.
