Josh Ocasio Funeral Expense Fund

Donation protected
We've repurposed the Go Fund Me to help raise funds for Josh's funeral expenses. The Ocasio's are very grateful for all the support from the community.

If you're from the County or have lived in Southern Maryland for any amount of time, you've probably met Josh Ocasio while he is on his route supporting local businesses across Southern Maryland, supporting his kids in sports, or as he coached Leonardtown High's Baseball team. Or you may have went to school with or taught Josh at Esperanza Middle School or Great Mills throughout the 90s. However, you met him you know his outgoing personality, infectious smile and love and commitment to his family and being an amazing father.

Over this past Memorial Day weekend, Josh had been experiencing extreme bouts of lethargy and fever. After working a full day Josh would come home completely exhausted and unable to function other than going to sleep.  On Memorial Day, Josh was still incredibly weak and unable to get up with out assistance, which prompted his wife, Suzie to get him to the hospital to determine what was going on.  After multiple blood transfusions and tests, Josh received the terrible diagnosis of having Leukemia. While devastated Josh, Suzie and family are committed to fighting this disease and are pursuing the best possible treatment for him.

On May 28th, Josh was transferred to Johns Hopkins Medical in Baltimore to determine the severity of his diagnosis and receive specialized treatment. While Josh is in general good spirits, his energy levels fluctuate rapidly and he remains in the hospital to receive treatment and recover.

While Josh seeks treatment at Hopkins, he's unable to work through Ocasio & Son, as an independent distributor for Schmidt Bakery. As a small business owner, not being able to work has a major impact on his income with less options of support through disability and other benefits from an employer. While Suzie has a successful career as a nurse at Calvert Memorial Hospital, like many of us, the Ocasio's rely on a two-income household to make ends-meet and provide for 3 teenage children.

We're asking the local Southern Maryland community to think about Josh, Suzie and the Ocasios in this challenging time and consider donating to this Fundraiser that will be used to help with Josh's on-going medical treatment and living expenses to support his family.  Any donation great or small is incredibly appreciated. And please share this with your network, especially those in the County that likely know Josh as a friend, coach and business partner.
