Josh Larson Took a Hit

Donation protected

On the evening of January 4th, the Terry Peak ski patrol found Josh wandering, conscious but delirious and clearly injured. Josh was taken down the slope on a toboggan and transported to the Deadwood emergency room, where the decision was made to  ventilate and Life Flight him to Rapid City.  After a night in the ICU, three days in the neuro unit, and a week in neuro rehab, Josh was discharged. He is home with his family and doing well.

Josh has some memory loss, and struggles with recall - He may not remember your name but might know how you know each other,  or vice versa. He may not remember names of animals or fruits or tools or be able to name something that's yellow. Josh cannot drive, work in the way that he previously could, or live independently at this time.

Those of you who know Josh, know he is a man of many skills and passions. He is a musician, a wood carver, a photographer. He is endlessly creative.  He is curious and capable and complicated. He is kind, tender hearted, and goofy as hell! We are so grateful that all of these qualities are here still or will soon return ( so we're not so worried that he can't remember "maraschino cherry.")

The detail's of Josh's accident are unclear, and will likely remain so as Josh has little memory of that day.  But as we learn more from the ski patrol, it is increasingly and horrifyingly clear that Josh could have been much more seriously injured or killed or changed beyond recognition.  We have been told that Josh has every chance at a full recovery  - 100% or Bust! He is nearly there in so many ways already.

What is terribly clear, as the medical bills begin to pile up, is that the financial impact of his accident could be life altering.

His current known medical bills exceed $110,000 for the LifeFlight and care received at Rapid City Hospital alone.  There will be additional bills such and his twice weekly speech therapy. We are working with an organization to apply for all available financial aid and using every resource to reduce these totals!

We ask that you sincerely consider helping Josh with this financial burden.

We also ask that you share this page with your friends and company.

We don't know what financial assistance Josh will receive, if any.  All donations received that exceed Josh's needs will be donated to a traumatic brain injury and/or and helmet accessibility related non-profit, TBD.

We're so grateful for the support we have already received. How blessed is this family to have your love and friendship.

Keep on the lookout for upcoming fundraisers! If you would like to contribute in other ways for these events; please let us know.

I cannot even express the impact each "like," comment, text, call or email supporting Josh brings!
