Hello, My name is Erin; on behalf of Josh's family and friends, we have put a fundraiser together to support Josh and his family with medical expenses on their journey after Josh suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury on August 14th, 2022.
Sunday, August 14th, began as a typical Sunday for the Hobart family; late afternoon Josh began to feel dizzy and started to have seizures with episodes of unconsciousness. Josh was immediately transported to the local hospital in Owatonna, where a CT was taken. At this time, a ruptured brain aneurism had occurred. Josh was intubated and placed in a medically induced coma. Josh was then life-flighted to Rochester, where he remains in the intensive care unit. He is expected to stay in the ICU for 2-3 weeks and has an unknown duration of continued hospital stay.
Monday, August 15th, Josh had surgery to repair the aneurysm, and a drain was placed to support with swelling of the brain. Within the next 24 hours, Josh developed a fever of 103 degrees and pneumonia.
Josh continues to be strong and fight despite all odds. He is no longer in the induced coma or intubated, he is still considered in critical condition, and the next seven days are filled with uncertainty as they continue to monitor for swelling and changes to the brain.
An MRI was completed on 8/20, which showed signs of brain damage; at this time, the extent is unknown due to the swelling. Josh cannot lift his right leg or speak; he does open his eyes and nod his head. He does give Crystal the occasional scowl.
Crystal and Josh's parents have remained by his side since this tragedy occurred. So many family and friends have stepped up to support Josh and Crystal's two children during this time. Josh's road to recovery will require a lot of hotel stays for Crystal and her family, medical appointments, surgeries, therapy, and many other unknowns.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated if you would like to support The Hobart Family with the financial burden. All donations will go to help Josh, Crystal and their family, travel/lodging expenses, and any medical expenses incurred through this journey.
On behalf of Josh and Crystal, their family and closest friends, we appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers, and support of the last week, and udoubtly, in the months to come.
