In Memory of Josh Hines: Supporting the Homestead Band.

Josh Hines spread love, joy, and positivity everywhere he went and all over the marching band world, even through all of his medical struggles over the past decade+. His work with Indiana Marching and TxBands was loved and shared by many with his witty insight and positive commentary of every band he saw. Josh gave himself and his knowledge and love for the activity through the Forums and Live Blogs for parents, grandparents, students, and more to read from all across the country and even all across the world. Thousands of people would tune in to the Live Blogs every weekend during the marching season and read his commentary and be lifted up by it.

Josh was active in the marching band social media world for 20 years, and countless lives have been made better thanks to all of the love that Josh published into the world.

After his family, the thing that he loved and supported and was more emotional about beyond anything else was the Homestead Spartan Alliance. His time in the Homestead band made him who he became, and watching them at ISSMA and BOA events was always the highlight of his year.

The amount of emotion that poured out of Josh while watching Homestead perform in the 2024 BOA Grand National Semifinals was absolutely palpable. Somewhere inside of himself, he knew that this was potentially the last time that he would see the band perform live, and they had their best performance of the season!

In memory of Josh and his love for the Homestead Spartan Alliance, we would like to gather donations to be given to the South Allen County Schools Music Boosters organization, which benefits music and performance arts education for the Homestead HS and its feeder middle schools, including marching band, concert band, jazz band, choir, show choir, dance, winter guard, orchestra, and more. Josh always wanted to help the band in any way that he could, and this is our chance to help him continue to do that.
