Josh Gordon Recovery
Donation protected
From Brenna Capon (creator of this GoFundMe):
As many of you many know, our dear friend Josh was seriously injured in an accident at home, fracturing his sternum, lower spine, pelvis, and hips on January 17 (full story from Jordin below). Due to the severity of his injuries, he may not be able to return to work for a year. We know Josh and the Gordons have helped lots of people over the years and are beloved by so many, so we wanted to create an outlet for all of us to show our support. If you are able to help ease the financial burden the Gordons will face, please make a donation on this platform or to Jordin’s Venmo (Jordin's Venmo Link).
The family appreciates any support you can give them at this time, whether through a financial gift, prayer, or other form of encouragement. Please feel free to reach out to me (Brenna) with any questions you have about this project.

From Josh's wife Jordin:
On Tuesday, January 17, Josh was working on his F350 in the driveway. The truck lurched forward and the wheel blocks were kicked out from under the tires, causing the truck to roll down our driveway. As the truck rolled, Josh was pinned underneath by his left hip and shoulder. The weight of the truck drug him a short distance, but his body held the truck in place until paramedics arrived. PRAISE GOD that the kids (Taelin 10, Cecelia 7, Forrest 5, and Max 3) and I were home and heard his call for help. I crawled under the pickup truck to hold Josh's hand and help lift the bed of the pickup off his lungs so he could breathe. 911 arrived soon, jacked the pickup, and pulled Josh out from underneath. He was transported to Mercy hospital where the medical staff determined that Josh had a fractured sternum and lower L5 vertebrae as well as several pelvic/hip bone breaks on both the left and right side. He was admitted that evening and went in for surgery on Wednesday, January 18 around 3:00pm. He now has one long screw going across the length of his pelvis and a second smaller screw to help secure and stabilize his pelvis. Surgery went well, and we are so thankful for a very efficient team! After several days in the ICU, Josh was transferred to the in-patient physical therapy unit where he will stay until the medical team evaluates his ability to return home, where he will continue healing and begin out-patient therapy. For the next 10 weeks, Josh cannot put any weight on his legs. If he can come home, we will need to set up a wheelchair ramp and a bedroom on the main level, as well as modify the home to best provide for his new medical needs. After these 10 weeks, he will have an evaluation, and the plan will be to start more intense PT to help him regain strength and mobility. No one can give us any clear answers right now, but a few nurses have stated it takes at least 6 months for patients to be able to walk and be back at LIGHT activity. Given the nature of Josh's job, we estimate it will be closer to a year before he can return to mechanic work. We know the timing in all of this can be trusted in God’s hands.
Due to the timing of Josh's employment with FedEx that started in November, he is ineligible to receive funding through short term disability and does not have guaranteed job security with FMLA. Our family has rested under his single income for the past several years; however, his current need for consistent nursing care from me creates difficulty providing for our family’s financial needs. We recognize that accidents like this cause a variety of hardships, and we thank each and every one of you for your willingness to help us in this season of life.
