Help for Josh Burke's Medical Expenses & Recovery

Hi there. My name is Marisa Barley, and on behalf of Spalding Ashley and myself, we have started this GoFundMe page for Joshua Burke, who is 19 years old, and a close family friend, who was involved in a serious car accident on April 19th.

Josh was immediately transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where his injuries were assessed and he had immediate emergency surgery to remove his spleen. He sustained multiple fractures throughout his left side, including pelvis, femur, hip, ribs, shoulder and vertebra. Other injuries he sustained were a collapsed lung, torn diaphragm and lacerated liver. The following day, he had surgery to repair the fractures in his pelvis, femur and hip. The shoulder, ribs and vertebra should heal on their own in time. Josh spent 9 days in the hospital.

The good news is Josh didn't sustain any head injuries and will make a full recovery, but it will be a long road for this young man.

The Burke family are local residents of Concord and have a total of 6 children. They are a family who are always serving their community and always helping out whoever is in need.

I'm starting this fund in the hopes to help them cover the unforeseen amounts that will not be covered under their medical insurance and for other costs related to Josh's recovery.

Josh is currently enrolled in Los Medanos College and is studying welding. Needless to say, this accident is going to set him back in his schooling but Josh is determined to get back on his feet and continue his journey.
